Hybrid workplace

The hybrid workplace is a modern work environment that includes both on-site and remote work. It is a type of dispersed workforce. A hybrid workplace can include fully remote teammates, fully on-site teammates and teammates who alternate between working remotely and on premises depending on worker needs and preferences.

Hybrid workplaces are enabled by solutions such as digital engagement, subscription-based services and collaboration platforms. Businesses that adopt a hybrid approach often experience enhanced operational agility and resiliency, and can potentially save on overhead costs.

The sudden shift to remote work in the spring of 2020 led many businesses to consider a permanent transition to a hybrid workplace model. However, progress toward this new way of working began prior to the COVID-19 pandemic as emergent technological innovations provided greater flexibility in where and how people work.
