The trade-in process in 4 steps
Get a quote.
Step 1
Days 1–2
Contact your Account Executive or reach out to Insight. Please provide device details:
- Device model
- Condition (works well, minor damage, etc.)
- Included accessories (charger, keyboard, etc.)
- Serial number (if available)
- Receive a quote for your device's value.
Prepare & ship your devices.
Step 2
Days 1–30
Insight offers 3 shipping options:
- Self-ship the device for shipments under 30 lbs. Insight provides the prepaid UPS return label.
- Insight provides packing materials, prepaid UPS label, and coordinates shipping for shipments up to 50 lbs.
- For larger shipments/pallets, Insight provides TSA-approved carriers, sealed containers, truck options, and coordinated shipping.
Audit & evaluate.
Step 3
Days 30-45
Once Insight receives your device:
- Device is cleaned and inspected.
- Condition is evaluated (cosmetic & functional).
- Data is securely erased using NIST 800-88 guidelines.
- Audit report is issued with findings.
- Certificate of Erasure is provided for security & compliance.
Get paid.
Step 4
Days 45-60
- Payment timeline: Approximately 60 days from receipt
- Payment options: Choose from a check mailed to you or a credit to use toward future Insight purchases.
