Why IT Faces Difficulties in Adopting New Tech
This article originally appeared on cioinsight.com on March 7, 2016. The post by Dennis McCafferty was based off Insight’s press release that announces our first-ever Intelligent Technology™ index, conducted by third-party research company, Market Intel Group, to understand better the top concerns of technology decision makers. Insight's CIO Mike Guggemos shares his perspective on the reasons IT faces difficulties in adopting new technology in the CIO Insight slideshow article.
The majority of IT professionals say the current tech in place at their organization is keeping them from acquiring and implementing new tech, according to a recent survey from Insight Enterprises. This leaves them with a current state of IT infrastructure that performs at less than superior levels, findings reveal. What's more, these IT pros confide that they're very concerned about disruption from tech innovation--with competitive pressures created by the actions of both direct competitors and new rivals from outside industries. To respond, a notable share of companies will raise tech spending this year, with a sizable portion of the increase funding for the adoption/development of new tech and innovation. "In recent years, new devices, applications and software solutions have hit the market with incredible frequency," said Mike Guggemos, CIO at Insight Enterprises. "The old adage of 'keeping up with the Joneses' has never been more relevant than when applied to businesses trying to compete and harness the power of emerging technologies. Large and medium-sized organizations have deeper pockets to help them in the race, but often face organizational hurdles, while smaller and more nimble businesses often lack financials to experiment prior to making investments." More than 400 IT pros with decision-making responsibilities took part in the research.
