People’s personal and professional brand is built upon this online lens. Your circles are no longer bound by miles and drive time, but by online searches and hashtags. It’s not only about the information that is at your fingertips, but the people that are sharing and taking in that information — your very own global and diverse network.
June 30 marks the seventh-annual official Social Media Day — and since 2010, it has turned into a global celebration of how technology has transformed the way we communicate. People across industries and our planet will be celebrating the connectivity of our digital culture in online chats and during networking events.
And it’s a little ironic that this day, while celebrated online, is also taken offline. According to Alexandra Ford from Mashable, Social Media Day is celebrated “from happy hours to week-long conferences [as] people use Social Media Day to switch the conversation from online to in real life.”
